In 2000 Texas Country music starting gaining popularity very fast. Artist like Willie Nelson and Billy Joe Shaver paved they way for the 'Texas Country" genre. Artist like Robert Earl Keen, Jr., Pat green, Lyle Lovett, Cory Morrow, Reckless Kelly, Roger Creager to name a few helped engulf the Texas Country scene.
A lot of the Texas Country artists are from Texas. There are also a lot of artists that are not from Texas, but are categorized as "Texas Country Music" artists due to the fact that they all co-mingle together and share that unique sound. Texas Country Artists have a very strong and loyal fan base. Fans will drive hours and hours just to see there favorite Texas Country Artist(s).

Just about any town in Texas with a live music venue will book a Texas Country Artist. You can see these artists from Austin, to Lubbock, to Gruene, to Beaumont, to Corpus Christi, even to McAllen, and everywhere in between.
In my opinion Texas Country Music stations are not too common. In your bigger cities in Texas there are a better variety of stations. There are a lot of towns in Texas that do not even get the Texas Country radio stations. The good thing is that you can stream the music from a Texas Country radio station website.
